I don't see myself paying for many iPhone applications (if any).

I will however enter my username & password into an application that is synchronized and provides additional value from a web-backend. For example, if your application provides good enough sports video recommendations, then I'm going to be more likely to stare at that pizza ad for 10 seconds. Or the photo synchronization is good enough, I'd order prints or stare at advertisements from the companion website. Those models seem to have worked well for some since the days of radio (plus I'm already paying a lot for the data feed).

Otherwise, it feels like someone is asking me to pay for the privelige of visiting their website.

In terms of a more advanced version of an app ... just ship me the full version but only unlock the advanced features if I pay you on your own website. (then I'm also not stuck to one particular phone platform)

2 cents ....

(Haven't had this phone long though ... maybe there's an application I haven't seen yet that will change my mind!)

(I was speaking of consumer applications ... I can see people spending other people's money on secure corporate management apps)

Hi,

inspired by your post I made a quick analyses of popularity of free and lite apps. Turns out you should name the cut-down version of your app "free" instead of "lite".
