I originally posted this from my iPhone, and the Typepad interface automatically scales up the image to be full size, even though the source image is small. The Typepad application actually does a couple things that are truly terrible:
1) Forces the image that is rendered inline to be full size. But since the source image is actually pretty small, the inline image is grainy and pixelated (since the browser is the one scaling the image to be larger).
2) Links through to the small image, which seem really absurd since the inline image is a scaled up version of it. Who clicks a thumbnail to build view a smaller version of an image?
What Typepad should do is post the image in it native size, which no scaling, and ideally it shouldn’t even be linked, since the click through image will simply be identical to the inline image.
(I logged in and fixed my post using Windows Live Writer- it looked so ridiculous as it was, I just couldn’t stand it. The photo I took from Gasworks Park in Seattle is another example of this, if you’d like to see the ridiculousness of it).
And one other note- this isn’t a ‘Moved and Scaled’ image- just one straight off the camera roll :(.
